Here you go..
Pizza Dough
1 cup hot water1 Tbsp sugar
1 Teas salt
1 Tbsp shortening
1 Tbsp yeast
3-4 cups flour
Starting with 1 1/2 cups of flour, Mix all ingredients until well blended and sticky. (When combining the ingredients put the yeast on the flour so it doesn't touch the hot water until everything is mixing). Slowly add flour until dough forms a ball and pulls away from the side of the mixer. Let rise for a few minutes. Oil surface and roll out dough, place on greased pizza pan. Prick holes in the dough with a fork before adding the sauce. I also like to add my favorite garlic seasoning to the edges of the dough after brushing EVOO all over.
If you have a baking stone, I highly recommend using it! So hard to burn anything on one of those. If you don't, its time you do!
If you have any extra dough, make a dessert pizza! Brush some butter on with cinnamon sugar. And snap! SO good. Another best part.. dessert.
And just a note,
The trickiest part is the flour, the more flour you put in the dough the tougher it will be, but if you don't get enough
flour, the dough is too sticky.
I have never used 4 cups of flour. It usually seems a little over 3 cups. I add the flour 1/2 cup at a time after the initial 1 1/2 cups.
