These are a favorite, and super easy. You might as well buy a few of the ingredients- cause once you make it you won't be able to stop!!
It really is so easy and yummy I made it for my lunch one day.
and of course very healthy.
Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
1 to 2 Tbs sesame oil
1 Tbs minced garlic
1 1/4 lb ground turkey (give or take)
1 green pepper diced
bunch of green onions, cut up
1 (8oz) Jar hoisen sauce *
1 tsp- 1 Tbs chili garlic paste (depending on how spicy you like it)*
1/2 peanuts, crushed
Instructions
Heat oil, add turkey and garlic until cooked, add everthing else and simmer 10-20 minutes. I like to simmer longer.
We eat this served in crisp long roman lettuce. kind of like taco style.
Serve along side coconut rice!
Hoisin Sauce can be found in the Asian isle!! I got it at most stores- Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Winco, BUT ironically I didn't find it at our local Walmart. They had the most lame Asian section though.
The nice thing about hoisin sauce is it is so flavorful that any nervousness you have about using ground turkey will be wiped away with your first bite.
Chili Garlic Sauce is also in the Asian isle. It was at walmart so you shouldn't have any problem.
It is however VERY spicy. Most the time I cook without it....because just a dab will spice it up, and we aren't spicy people. However, my brother loves to dump a whole lot of it on his individual lettuce wraps.

I've been wanting to try lettuce wraps since I had them at P.F. Chengs a LONG time ago! Now I will. Do out know about how much hoisin sauce is in a jar? I buy mine from an asian store in a bottle that looks a lot bigger. Also, If you want to try a couple other asian style dinners that include some of these same ingredients check out: Moo Shu Noodles and Simple Asian Noodles from http://www.melskitchencafe.com/ They are SO good! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteok, the hoisen sauce is 8 oz, I'm going to go and fix that right now just in case anyone else has the same question :) thanks for the other website...I'm really loving asian food right now.

ReplyDeleteI totally made these the other night! BIG HIT! They were so good, I made them again for my in-laws. Another BIG HIT! We don't have PF Chang's over here, so it was great to create it in my kitchen! Thanks for sharing, my beautiful Des!
ReplyDeleteMade these tonight and loved em! I subbed chopped water chestnuts for the green pepper.
