I have such fond memories of my Grandma Doxey and popcorn. any kind of popcorn.
She has a stir crazy....a stir crazy popcorn maker from the olden days.The real deal. When we would travel down and see her we'd often end the night watching a movie or Jazz game each with wooden bowls full of fresh popped popcorn with real butter and salt. no microwave stuff.
Once in a while she would treat us with caramel popcorn.
I love both.
I used to make this caramel popcorn all the time. Had it memorized, but somewhere along the years of the life I forgot it.
upon request, she emailed it to me this week.
so we made it for movie night last night.
cut and paste from my email....
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup karo syrup
1 cube butter
cook to soft ball stage
add 1 can eagle brand milk {sweetened condensed milk}
makes a large bowl of popcorn
enjoy love ya.
"large bowl" of popcorn is about 3 bags (you can just do 2 if you want, it will be pretty dang sticky) or if you use a stir crazy...i love mine....a whole lid full.
Doxey Caramel Popcorn
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup karo syrup
1 cube butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
cook brown sugar, karo syrup and butter to soft ball stage
add sweetened condensed milk
